Resumen
Este artículo analiza la formación, el funcionamiento y el desgaste de la identidad indígena como fundamento de gobernanza durante los gobiernos del Movimiento al Socialismo (MAS) en Bolivia. Propone el concepto de “conciliación identitaria” para explicar cómo una identidad históricamente subordinada fue situada en el centro simbólico e institucional del Estado y articulada con organización política y redistribución. Desde una perspectiva histórico-institucional, sostiene que la eficacia inicial de esta modalidad dependió del refuerzo mutuo entre reconocimiento, articulación organizativa y anclaje redistributivo. Sin embargo, el ejercicio prolongado del poder debilitó esos vínculos mediante desacoplamientos entre reconocimiento y redistribución, reconocimiento y organización, y organización y redistribución. El caso boliviano permite ampliar el estudio de la política identitaria hacia sus dinámicas de gobernanza, institucionalización y desgaste.
